FLAMES LEAVE FOR SAUDI ARABIA

The flames Malawi National team is expected to leave for SAUDI Arabia on Thursday for a 10_days training camp ahead of the back to back  2023 Afcon qualifying matches against Egypt.  The flames will face Egypt in Cairo on Friday March 24 and Flames coach Mario Marinica will travel with a 25_men squad including three foreign based players. Soctland based defender Kieran Ngwenya, who is set for flames return since debut against Tanzania in a friendly match in June 2021. Will join the squad on Friday. Mildfielder Francisco Madinga and John Banda will join the team on Monday 13 from Botswana and Mozambique respectively. Speaking to Malawi24, FAM Technical Support Manager James Sangala said everything is set for the trip. "All is set for the SAUDI trip. We are arranging to hay some friendly matches during the period and the opponents will be announced later. We will leave for Cairo on Sunday March 19 . MNCS TO CUT FUNDING

Malawi National council of sports is expected to cut funding to all sports associations that did not attain anual general meeting. According to Malawi24, MNCS public relations and comminication officer Edgar Nkulumbwa signed a letter which  says that it is not pleased that some sports associations have not yet held their anual general meetings which is not in line with their own constitution. However MNCS has requested all the associations to submit confirmations that they have held an AGM and failure to do so, they will  not access funding. "All associations should submit their confirmation by the midnight of March 15 2023 and failling which the Association will not be able to access the funding from the council and may be further sunctioned", said the council.

MARINICA CLAIM FOR MORE TIME

Flames coach (Marinica) Malawi national football coach Mario Marinica has claimed for more time to bring positive change in football. According to the times group, Marinica is calling this philosophy as 'fast and very fast philosophy' and said that it will become more effective across the board. "This is a philosophy which needs to be deviced across the board from under 17, 20, 23 and all super league teams and then at the national team. Marinica mentioned Gabadinho Mhango as the player who has been equipped with his philosophy. MTUKULE TO TEST HERSELF IN A BIG LEGUE

Mtukule Malawi queens Captain Caroline Mtukule Ngwira got a welcome from her new club team Bath as she looks forward to test herself in a big league. According to the Nation, the goal defender said she is more excited to be part of the team. Soon after being signed on a season longer deal the star was quoted by teambath.com for saying: "it is a great pleasure to be joining Team bath and am so honored to have this opportunity. "it is a big challenge but one I am excited for is that I will do my very best to help bring positive results ", She said. FCB NYASA BIG BULLETS SIGN TO KENYAN DEFENDERS

Okumu FCB Nyasa Bullets have signed two Kenyan defenders Clydle Senaji and Collins okumu for a one year deal each and it made this announcement on Tuesday via their official Facebook page. "Nyasa Big Bullets are delighted to announce the signing of Kenyan defender senai on a one year contract". Reads the statement. According to Malawi24 Senaji joined Bullets as a free agent after agreeing to a one year contract and will be part of the people's team family until February 2024. KICK BOXING TO BE INTRODUCED IN RURAL AREAS

Kickboxing Association of Malawi is likely to introduce kick boxing to rural areas for wider sport participation. Accordance to Malawi24, General secretary, Bright Limani said this at Thondwe in Zomba where the association held a tournament. He said there is need to introduce the sporting activity to rural areas and not concentrating in the cities only. He also appreciated Kips restraunt for sponsoring with t_shirts and food to the players that take part at Thondwe tournament. " We are thankful for people at Thondwe for coming in large numbers to watch the sports for the first time and it is our wish to bring the sport in the rural trading centers to entertain people" he said. According to Malawi24 Limbani Lion Rotcha who defeated Erick Sokwani said he was by following coach's instructions. He also posed a worry saying that there is need for Kickboxing Association of Malawi to award the winners with fair cash prisezes since the Association give them lesser amount.

BLANTYRE DURBY ENDS IN DRAW

During the game The first Blantyre derby of 2023 failed to produce a winner as Nyasa Big Bullets were held to a goalless draw by rival Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon. MALAWIAN OFFICIALS TO LEAD AFCON

Nkakananga (Third from right). O ne of the well-known Malawian referees  Godfrey Nkhakananga will lead a team of Malawian referees to take control of next month’s 2023 U23 African Cup of Nations qualifying match between Sudan and Niger. According to CAF statements , Nkhakananga will be assisted by Clemence Kanduku and Bernadettar Kwimbira as first Assistant Referee and Second Assistant Referee respectively. Gift Chicco will be the fourth official for the match that will take place at Omdurman-El Hilal Stadium on 28th March 2023.Somali’s Amir Abdi Hassan will be the Match Commissioner. According to Malawi24, CAF has also appointed Raphael Humba as Match Commissioner for a 2023 Afcon qualifying match between Zambia and Lesotho to be played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium of 23rd March 2023. KIERAN NGWENYA REBACK TO FLAMES

The flames Scotland based defender Kieran Ngwenya is set for Flames return after his inclusive in the provisional squad for a two week training camp in Saudi Arabia in preparation for 2023 AFCON qualifying matches against Egypt later this month. Ngwenya has not played for the Flames since his first  appearance  against Tanzania in a friendly match in June 2021. According to Malawi24,  FAM Technical Support Manager James Sangala confirmed the development saying they are now working on the player’s travel to Saudi Arabia. “We wrote Aberdeen for the release of the player and they have officially given us a go ahead to take him to Saudi Arabia after they discussed with his new club and the player himself. Flewtwood Haiya (sulom president) The newly appointed super league of Malawi president Fleetwood Haiya says clubs will get their promised K7 million before the start of the 2023 season. "Whatever we promised we will deliver. Clubs will get their money this forthcoming season. We are serious about developing football by empowering clubs" said Haiya. However some clubs namely, Chitipa united, Karonga united and Kamuzu Barracks revealed their budgets towards the money. According to The Nation, General secretary for Chitipa said "we have a budget of K 68 million for the whole season but currently we only have about K 18 million. so the excitement with the K 7 million that the president promised, will make a huge difference.
